Fats

All Fats Are Not Bad

There is a terrible misconception when it comes to fatty foods. People generally assume that all foods that contain fats are bad for health. Nothing can be more wrong than this. The fact is that there are different kinds of fats. Fats are a chemical organic family that have a certain molecular formula. Of these different variations, some fats are good for health and some are bad. While the bad ones can cause problems in the system, the good ones are actually necessary for healthy living.

The bad fats are the saturated fats and the trans fats. These are present in foods such as cheese, burgers, pizzas, fried foods and such. These are the fats that can cause the cholesterol amount in the body to rise. If unchecked, these fats can accumulate within the arterial walls and cause problems such as atherosclerosis and cardiac problems.

However, there is a whole new category of fats, the monounsaturated and the polyunsaturated fats, which is quite beneficial to us, and even necessary for our proper growth and development. These fats, which are also known as the omega 3 fats are found in olive oil, fish foods, seafood, poultry, etc. They are actually beneficial to the body in many ways. They create the healthy cholesterol that supplies energy to your body. They also help in dissolving the fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K and delivering them to different parts of the body. Thus, it is correct to say that without these healthy fats, we will not be able to get the benefits of these vitamins as well.
